As the world's largest food and beverage company, Nestlé has plenty of opportunities for you to make an impact through the work you do in a truly global business.
Nutrition information and labelling
Our commitment: Apply and explain nutrition information on packs, at point of sale and online
We strive to empower consumers to make informed choices about what they consume through clear information about ingredients, nutritional benefits, health information and portion size on our packaging. We work in line with the Codex Alimentarius as well as other best practices to ensure harmonisation of nutrition requirements of Indian food regulations.
Guideline Daily Amount (GDA) Labelling System
The Guideline Daily Amount (GDA) labelling system provides guidance on the daily energy intake and key defined nutrients on the front of pack to enable consumers to evaluate a product’s composition in their daily diet. We place a very high priority on making consumers aware of their nutrition intake through prominent food labels on our products. Currently, we have GDA labels on all our product packs for children (4-12 years) and family products, and are in the process of implementing on-pack GDA information on all Nestlé products.
Nestlé Nutritional Compass (NNC)
Nestlé Nutritional Compass provides easy to understand nutritional information, enabling a consumer to make informed choices on the product to be consumed and in what quantity.
Each product with the NNC consists of the following information:
Standardized Nutrition Information: The table comprises the nutritional content of the product, including energy content, number of calories per serving, protein, carbohydrates, fat, sugar and other important nutrients that are a source of fibre, vitamins and minerals.
Good to Know: This section talks about the inherent product and nutritional attributes and benefits delivered by the product.
Good to Remember: This section offers tips and advice on good eating habits.
Good to Talk: For further advice and information, consumers can talk to nutrition experts at the Nestlé India consumer services department on the contact information provided.
Beyond the Label (BTL) system
We have enhanced the NNC labelling of our products with a QR code on the label, allowing consumers to use their mobile phones to find out more about our products, categorised under three heads — Nutrition, Environment and Society.
