Expanding the geographical footprints of Project ‘Serve Safe Food’ in Chhattisgarh, Nestlé India has continued its collaboration with FDA, Chhattisgarh, and National Association of Street Vendors of India (NASVI) to train over 1,000 street food vendors in Raipur, Bilaspur, Durg and Mahasamund districts, taking the total to 2,700 street food vendors in the state. Since its inception in 2016, Project ‘Serve Safe Food’ has benefitted over 68,500 street food vendors across 26 states and 4 union territories by bringing together various stakeholders to create a comprehensive training programme.
Mr. Kuldeep Sharma (IAS), Controller, Food Safey & Drug Administration, Chhattisgarh, said, “Chhattisgarh is known for its street food and it makes the street food vendors important stakeholders in the society. It is very encouraging to witness the work being undertaken by the FDA, NASVI and Nestlé India to strengthen the street food vendors. Project Serve Safe Food has already trained around 1,700 street food vendors in the state. Nestlé India launched Project Serve Safe Food in 2016 and has trained street food vendors across states including Assam, Andhra Pradesh, Arunachal Pradesh, Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Delhi, Goa, Gujarat, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir, Jharkhand, Karnataka, Kerala, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Manipur, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Odisha, Puducherry, Punjab, Rajasthan, Sikkim, Tamil Nadu, Telangana, Tripura, Uttar Pradesh, and Uttarakhand.
