Nestlé GERBER® has embarked on its sustainability journey in India. GERBER has installed park benches and games made from recyclable plastic waste at Tau Devi Lal Park, Gurugram. This initiative, called “Little Steps for Little Ones”, embodies GERBER's promise of "Anything for Little Ones" as it strives to contribute to a sustainable future for generations to come. This innovative approach not only reduces plastic waste but also provides a delightful experience for little ones in public spaces.

In partnership with the Indian Pollution Control Association (IPCA), a not-for-profit organization, GERBER® has committed to collect and responsibly manage an equivalent amount of plastic waste as it generates. As a pilot project in Delhi NCR, GERBER® is working towards collecting 15,000 kilogram of plastic waste in the year 2023. The collected waste undergoes careful segregation, with a focus on repurposing recyclable plastics and responsibly disposing of non-recyclable materials in compliance with government regulations. GERBER® and IPCA have already collected approximately 5,000 kilograms of plastic waste out which 2,200 kilograms have been utilized to create the benches and the games.

Commenting on the initiative, Vineet Singh, Director, Nutrition at Nestlé India said, “Our commitment to sustainability and our dedication to provide the best products are core GERBER® values. Through the initiative 'Little Steps for Little Ones', we aim not only to reduce our environmental footprint but also create a world where our children can grow and thrive in a healthier and cleaner environment. We intend to take this initiative forward beyond Delhi NCR and contribute positively to a sustainable future.”

Mr. Sanjay Khajuria, Director, Corporate Affairs and Sustainability, Nestlé Indiasaid "Sustainability is at the heart of Nestlé India. We consider it to be more than just a commitment; it's a blend of conscious choices and heartfelt decisions. Most of our brands are plastic neutral and this initiative is in line with this transformative journey for GERBER®. We are dedicated to play a constructive role in the growth of our children in an environment which is optimum for their growth.”

The installation of park benches at Tau Devi Lal Park in Gurgaon marks the inception of a larger initiative. GERBER® will continue to collect plastic, segregate them, and utilize recyclable plastic to create these park benches and games for children, to be installed at different locations across states.
