Our commitment: Assess and address human rights impacts across our business activities

We understand our responsibility toward instilling and maintaining human rights across our business activities. In 2010, we incorporated the UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights (UNGPs) in our policies, such as the Nestlé Corporate Business Principles, Nestlé Supplier Code, Policy on Conditions of Work and Environment and the Nestlé Employee Relations Policy. These principles are adhered to by all employees and extend to suppliers/contractors and associates. In 2016, there were no pending stakeholder complaints with regard to human rights.
In March 2011, we were the first and only BMS Company to be included in the FTSE4Good Index, a responsible investment index with well-defined criteria, for marketing breast milk substitutes. As part of this index, we have strengthened our Compliance Management System (CMS) as well as internal and external mechanisms for reporting concerns, such as the Nestlé Integrity Reporting System and our Tell Us portal to report inappropriate or illegal practices at Nestlé. All complaints reported are impartially dealt with and resolved with appropriate response measures.
