Nestlé for Healthier Kids, building on decades of partnerships and experience

In India, childhood malnutrition is a major public health concern. To address this, we strive to foster behaviours in children and families that contribute to building a healthier environment. We have identified three key focus areas — early childhood, school nutrition and inspiring parents — to effectively support public health objectives and give the beneficiaries a strong foundation to enable happier and healthier lives.

We aim to foster healthy behaviours in children and families through four programmes, each with a specific focus. While these have the same broad objectives, each differs in size, scope and approach, and is delivered through different channels to target specific groups:

  • Project Jagriti, which encourages healthy nutrition and breastfeeding practices, as well as increases the uptake of public health services through community sessions.
  • Healthy Kids Programme, dedicated to empowering teachers and children with nutrition education and promoting healthy lifestyles in the school environment;
  • Start Healthy Stay Healthy, which educates parents on the importance of nutrition in the first 1000 days of life.
  • Serve Safe Food that educates street food vendors on subjects including health, hygiene, safe food handling, waste disposal and entrepreneurship.
