Greenhouse Gases (CO2) Generation

During 1999 to 2014, Greenhouse gases (CO2) generation per tonne of production has been significantly reduced by 64%, while also reducing air acidification potential through the following key initiatives:

  • Utilising coconut shells and process waste (spent coffee grounds, spent tea leaves), to replace fuels with high sulphur content
  • Replacing R12 / R22 with environment friendly refrigerants
  • Using appropriate technologies to improve combustion fuels
  • Optimised the electrical load of Utilities from captive power to EB power
  • Installation and commissioning of UPS to optimise DG running hours
  • Extending use of Power trading option in factories
  • Reducing captive power generation
